Elizabeth Akinyi Mökkönen Mourns the Loss of an Icon: Rt. Hon. Raila Amollo Odinga, EGH
On 15th October 2025, Kenya lost one of its greatest sons Rt. Hon. Raila Amollo Odinga, EGH, a man whose name will forever be engraved in the nation’s democratic history. Fondly known as Baba, he was not just a political leader, but a symbol of resilience, reform, and unyielding love for Kenya.
Raila Odinga’s lifelong struggle for justice, equality, and democracy transformed Kenya’s political landscape and inspired generations to dream of a better, fairer nation. His courage and sacrifice laid the foundation for the freedoms we enjoy today.
Honouring Baba: Candlelight Vigil in Katito, Nyakach
In honour of this monumental loss, Elizabeth Akinyi Mökkönen, Nyakach MP Aspirant 2027, organized a Candlelight Vigil Memorial on 18th October 2025 in Katito, Nyakach Constituency.
The evening was filled with emotion as residents, youth, elders, and leaders gathered in unity to pay tribute to a man who gave his all for Kenya. Songs of hope, messages of peace, and prayers of thanksgiving filled the air as flickering candles illuminated the night, a reflection of Baba’s enduring light in the hearts of millions.
Elizabeth Akinyi Mökkönen described Raila Odinga as “a father of democracy and a selfless patriot whose vision for Kenya must continue to guide us.” She urged the people of Nyakach and all Kenyans to honour his memory by embracing unity, integrity, and service to the people.
His Legacy Lives On
Though Raila Odinga may be gone, his spirit lives on in every Kenyan who believes in truth, justice, and equality. His dream of a united and prosperous Kenya remains alive, a dream we must all nurture and advance.
As Kenya mourns, let us also celebrate the gift of his life, a journey of courage, conviction, and compassion.
